Hansel and Gretel
Tonic will meet at 7pm online
Performance will start at 7.30pm and runs for 100 minutes

(from the Scottish Opera website)
This fun, inventive and often poignant new staging features Kathleen Ferrier Award-winner Kitty Whately as Hansel and Rhian Lois as Gretel, alongside Nadine Benjamin, Phillip Rhodes, Charlie Drummond and a small chorus. Conductor David Parry leads The Orchestra of Scottish Opera.
Humperdinck’s lush and majestic score is one to revel in and has something for everyone – from the beautiful ‘Evening Prayer’ to enchanting folk-inspired melodies – perfect for audiences young and old.
The opera will be available for streaming from February 10 and is free* to view. You can watch it at any time, but we think it will be more fun to do this together on February 27. Our good friend, Nadine Benjamin plays the Mother and the Witch in this production. She has kindly agreed to join us for the post-show Zoom session and will be happy to answer questions.
*Scottish Opera do ask for donations if you feel so inclined.
More details from the Scottish Opera website.
IMPORTANT: Please email Bryan if you plan to join us. Then we can invite you to the pre- and post-show Zoom sessions.
So why are we calling this a Virtual Group Outing?
This is how it will work.
30 minutes before curtain up you can join a Zoom session to chat with the other members of Tonic who are joining us that evening. 10 minutes before curtain up we will stop the Zoom session to allow you to get ready for the show. Get a drink, go to the loo, etc.
Everyone will watch the show from the comfort of their own home. No long journeys.
After the show you can join a second Zoom session.
This will give everyone an opportunity to discuss the show just seen.
We expect this session will run for about 30 minutes.
